History of Wanes:

Kaser Al-Wali, a new offspring of Wanes Restaurants, invites you to take a step back in time to enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere and the reminiscent of the old town of Aleppo. Kaser Al-Wali was launched in 2005 in a 300-year old mansion where you will truly enjoy a unique dining experience in a historic atmosphere.

Kaser Al-Wali cuisine has something for everyone. Kaser Al-Wali has a rich buffet of both the most popular western and the delicious authentic Aleppian food delicacies. As you know, Wanes the Elder grandfather was the Maria and Toshka inventor.

The geographic and historic location of Aleppo on the silk-route, has contributed to the nature of the City's food courses. Throughout the years, Aleppian food has become a mixture of authentic flavors spanning form the Arab world to central Asia which turned Aleppian food courses to a rare delicacy. It needs an unusual cook to break through the originality of this type of food, Wanes the Elder grandfather proved to be one. He successfully introduced a new breed of fast, yet delicious food, Toshka and Maria. Wanes soon became known for his original recipes that everyone loved. No wonder his new recipes Toshka and Maria has soon become a household name.

Wanes the Elder was very passionate in his pursuance of his vision. Through his hard work and geniosity, he easily gained the admiration of those who tried his specialties. Finding his business successful, Wanes launched his first Tent-like restaurant in Rakka province. He soon gained the usufructuary for the Touring (Syrian Tourism Club) from 1960-1993 and 1975-1978. During this time interval form 1966-1971, Wanes got usufructuary for Al-Sabeel Park Restaurant. By 1972, Wanes' vision turned reality and he launched his own restaurant; sadly, the same year marked his death. Wanes left a legacy of excellence and addition to the Aleppian food menu which his children and grandchildren still successfully pursue. Wanes reputation reached Lebanon where a new branch of Wanes was launched from 1995-1999. Now, Wanes is one of the most reputed restaurants in Syria.
